Their chosen design was a three-storey property with five en-suite bedrooms, four reception rooms and a beautifully landscaped garden.
Navigating through a challenging planning process, the Octagon Bespoke team helped at every stage.
Poornima comments, “The Octagon team managed a lot of the work during the planning stages, from liaising with neighbours to attending council meetings on our behalf. This was really valuable as it would have been a very timely procedure for us to carry out ourselves.”
Following a year and eight months of construction, stepping into their new home was everything they hoped it would be, and more.
“As soon as you step into the property, the sense of light and space immediately hits you. Opening the front door, you can see all the way to the back garden, with the reflective marble flooring and glass windows creating this spa-like atmosphere; it’s both peaceful and wonderfully indulgent.”
To the ground floor, an open-plan kitchen/living/dining area has naturally become the most used space, whilst a formal reception room and separate dining room are reserved for entertaining. A TV room is a particular family favourite, with a supersized sofa and television creating the perfect setting for a night in.
Taking a striking marble spiral staircase up to the first floor, a large landing connects four bedrooms, each with dedicated dressing areas and en-suite bathrooms.
Poornima mentions, “The principal bedroom was one of the first elements of the design where we knew exactly what we wanted. Positioned at the back of the property, the impressive bedroom features of windows overlooking the garden, giving us the most extraordinary view when we wake up in the morning.
Ascending to the top floor, there is a bedroom, lounge, study and bathroom, providing the perfect teenager’s retreat.
“The setup of the house works brilliantly for our daughter as well as for us; she has the space she needs to study and relax, whilst we can keep the rest of the house immaculate, and just to our taste!”
As Poornima and Giri had come to expect from touring previous Octagon properties, it is not just the large spaces that impress in an Octagon home, but the impeccable eye for detail.
Poornima adds, “Thanks to its sheer size, the house is undoubtedly impressive, however for me, it’s all the small touches that are really exciting. Details like the three-step coving, an Octagon trademark, really elevate each room and make even the smallest space somewhere to enjoy. We also love all the innovative technology integrated through the home. We have a Control4 system which controls things like music and heating, all from an iPad. On the top floor, our daughter feeds her music right from her bedroom to her study and her bathroom – it is absolutely perfect for a teenager.”
Poornima and Giri’s house has not just hit the client’s brief, but has been recognised across the industry, shortlisted as a finalist for ‘Best Individual New Home’ in the LABC London Building Excellence Awards 2020.
Discussing their experience with Octagon Bespoke, Poornima concludes: “We couldn’t be happier in our new home, it really is a joy to live here and we’re incredibly proud to call it ours. Octagon Bespoke managed to capture exactly what we were seeking in our dream home. We would recommend them to anyone looking to start a similar journey.”
